Moby pede desculpas a Natalie Portman depois de insistir que os dois namoraram

Recentemente, o músico Moby afirmou em seu novo livro “Then It Fell Apart” que ele e Natalie Portman haviam tido um relacionamento quando ela tinha 20 anos e ele 33. A atriz desmentiu a versão de Moby, afirmando que ela tinha 18 anos e nunca se relacionou com o músico.

Moby continuou a insistir que os dois namoraram em 1999, e afirmou que “isso [as negações de Natalie] me deixou confuso.” Nos últimos dias, o músico continuou a utilizar seu Instagram pessoal para rebater as acusações que vinha recebendo.

“Tenho recebido ameaças anônimas de violência dos fãs dela [Natalie Portman] e isso está afetando meus negócios e minha saúde. Então, o que eu deveria fazer? O que você faz quando as pessoas acreditam em mentiras e acusações e não em fotografias e evidências reais?”, escreveu o artista em uma publicação acompanhada de três fotos com a atriz.

In my memoir Then It Fell Apart I respectfully and honestly describe the brief, innocent, and consensual romantic involvement I had with Natalie Portman in 1999. But she’s denying that we ever dated, even though in the past she’s publicly discussed our involvement, and there’s ample photographic evidence that we briefly dated and then were friends(some pictures included in this post). It hurts to be lied about, especially as I’ve always respected her, and I thought we were friends. But I’ve been receiving anonymous threats of violence from her fans, and it’s affecting my business and my health. So what should I do? What do you do when people believe lies and accusations and not actual photographs and evidence? I want to take the high road, but I honestly don’t know what to do. It’s one thing to be lied about, and entirely another when someone’s lies result in physical threats from complete strangers.

Neste sábado (25), Moby publicou um pedido de desculpas públicos a Natalie e “para as outras pessoas sobre as quais escrevi”:

“Com o passar do tempo, percebi que muitas das críticas feitas a mim sobre minha inclusão de Natalie em ‘Then It Fell Apart’ são muito válidas. Eu também reconheço completamente que foi realmente imprudente da minha parte não deixá-la saber sobre sua inclusão no livro de antemão, e igualmente imprudente eu não respeitar totalmente sua reação. Eu tenho muita admiração por Natalie, a inteligência dela, criatividade, e ativismo pelos direitos dos animais, e eu odeio que eu possa ter causado estresse a ela e sua família. Eu tentei tratar todo mundo que eu incluí em ‘Then It Fell Apart’ com dignidade e respeito, mas, no entanto, foi realmente imprudente eu não deixá-los saber antes de o livro ser lançado. Então, por isso, peço desculpas a Natalie, assim como para as outras pessoas sobre as quais escrevi em ‘Then It Fell Apart’ sem antes avisá-las. Também aceito que, dada a nossa diferença de quase 14 anos, eu deveria ter agido com mais responsabilidade e respeito quando Natalie e eu nos conhecemos há quase 20 anos.”

As some time has passed I’ve realized that many of the criticisms leveled at me regarding my inclusion of Natalie in Then It Fell Apart are very valid. I also fully recognize that it was truly inconsiderate of me to not let her know about her inclusion in the book beforehand, and equally inconsiderate for me to not fully respect her reaction. I have a lot of admiration for Natalie, for her intelligence, creativity, and animal rights activism, and I hate that I might have caused her and her family distress. I tried to treat everyone I included in Then It Fell Apart with dignity and respect, but nonetheless it was truly inconsiderate for me to not let them know before the book was released. So for that I apologize, to Natalie, as well as the other people I wrote about in Then It Fell Apart without telling them beforehand. Also I accept that given the dynamic of our almost 14 year age difference I absolutely should’ve acted more responsibly and respectfully when Natalie and I first met almost 20 years ago. Moby
